Beauty and the Brains

Kendall has been saying for quite awhile now that she wants to be a doctor when she grows up.  This week, she's clarified that she wants to be a heart doctor.  I have NO idea where she got this from.  Last night she was asking me all kinds of questions about what your heart does.  After I explained it all to her, she was further set that she wanted to be a heart doctor.  She keeps trying to say a cardiologist, but then will forget what it's called.

On the way to daycare this morning, she was talking again about wanting to be a heart doctor when she grows up.  I told her she will have to go to school for a very long time.  She replied, "Even longer than preschool and kindergarten??"  haha, just slightly further.  We were talking about how you have to be very smart, listen to your teachers and study a lot.  It was quiet for a minute and Sydney says, "I get big, I just be a princess."

Looks like I can make some transfers from Sydney's college fund into Kendall's. ;)

Dancing Queen

This probably won't come as a shock to many of you, but I love all things girly.  When we got pregnant...actually, what am I saying?  *I* got pregnant.  Sure Eric had a roll in it, but I am pretty sure he wasn't the one to have ankles swell up to look like footballs (his words, the charmer), no longer be able to put on his socks without some twisting that looked like a messed up gymnast, and all of the other joys associated with creating a little person.  Whoops, tangent there.  Sorry about that.

Where was I?  Oh, yes.  When I got pregnant, I crossed my fingers hoping and praying for a little girl.  Sure, a boy would be wonderful, but I had big dreams for feathers and tutus in our future.  As soon as the ultrasound tech told us that my hopes came true, I just knew there would be dance recitals in our future.  Luckily for me, Kendall has shared my enthusiasm.

As luck would have it, after Eric and I booked our first solo vacation since we were married, we find out it is while my girl has her very first recital.  :::sobs:::  Thankfully, she had a large cheering section of our family and her BFF, so she didn't care that we were gone.  Although, there was this one time that she was being a pain in the butt.  As I was telling her she was getting awfully close to a time out, she came back at me.  "Remember that one time that I had my dance recital?  You and daddy were gone on bacation so you didn't see it."

Well played, Little One.  Well played, indeed.
Lucky for us, it wasn't the only time she'd be showing off her sweet moves.  Friday night her class had a performance at half time for the basketball game.  Are you bursting from the cuteness?  I sure am.

While waiting to perform, the kids played a bunch of games, including Simon Says and what everyone else in the world seems to call Duck Duck Goose.  (If you're from Minnesota and know your stuff, you'd know it's actually Duck Duck Grey Duck)

Sydney was transfixed with watching all of the little girls dancing.  She keeps saying, "I get big, I do dance class??"  Then she saw the popcorn from the concession stands and that's where her focus was the rest of the night.

And of course, this isn't complete without a video of the dance.  A few notes before watching: 1. Eric complained about having to hold up a pink iPhone to video while I was snapping pics.  2. Because of his complaining, he wasn't listening how to start/stop it.  3. It gets a bit wobbly at the very beginning and he didn't zoom in.

It's still worth the watch. ;)

Wasn't it cute??  Want more?  Here is their performance at the winter recital...you know, the one Kendall likes to rub in my face that I missed.
