Here we go again...

It seems like just yesterday I was starting the weekly weight loss posts.  That time, I was going to do it.  For once and for all I was going to lose the weight and keep it off.  I got down to just a few pounds away from my wedding weight.  I was looking better and feeling great.  Clothes were fitting better.  I had more energy.  I had more confidence.  I felt pretty darn good.

I never did reach my goal weight.  I met my goal of running a 5k.  I was so proud of myself that I did something that I always said I'd do *someday*.  And then....it all stopped.  I still can't believe it.  I ran the 5k and haven't run since.  The same morning I ran it, Eric left for a week on a hunting trip so I was home alone with the girls.  When he got back, I guess I got busy...or made excuses.  Then it got colder, and I had less and less incentive to go out.

With the lack of running came the lack of motivation.  I started snacking more.  I didn't watch what I was eating.  I quit weighing myself.  I tried to ignore that the pants that were once to big for me two months prior were now getting too tight.  I didn't want to believe that I failed again.  Sure enough, I gained every.last.freaking.pound back.  Not only that, they brought a couple of buddies with to torment me.

And so, here I am.  Starting over again.  I'm really pissed that I'm here again.  I'm made that there is a constant starting and stopping.  A constant roller coaster of monitoring, then eating whatever I want, to feeling good to feeling sluggish.

So, where does that leave me now.  I turn 30 in less than 5 months.  I am a bit freaked out on that, which is a whole other post in itself.  Until then, I've decided that I want to go into my 30s feeling good.  Looking good.  Feeling confident.  I'm sick of looking in my closet for something to wear that will look ok.  I want to grab anything and know that it WILL look ok.  I see so many styles that I'd love to wear, but feel like I can't.  I hope to have better luck this time.  I've said the same before, but what is life without mistakes?  The bigger thing is to just get up and try again.

I *started* my new diet on January 1st with my 2 sister in laws.  I slacked off course.  I've been using my fitness pal and tracking everything I've been eating.  The barcode scanner is an awesome tool. The first week of tracking everything, I lost 2.5 pounds.  I then found out that the calorie goal it gave me was way too low.  I found out I was having trouble losing weight because I wasn't eating enough.  Honestly, WTH.  Why is this so confusing?

I upped my calorie intake, and would find myself eating when I wasn't hungry.  My mind is a funny thing.  I'd see the remaining calories, and think, "Well, it says I need to eat, so I'll eat."  I wasn't going by my hunger cues.  I started to snack because it says I could.  That's not going to be the right way either.

I think this is going to be a trial and error thing.  I need to get my exercise in, and make good meal choices.  Clean meal choices.

I am going to try to restart my weekly weight loss posts.  It's a good incentive for me to know that y'all can see when I do well, and when I'm slacking.  Fingers crossed for the first one.

Here we go again...

Thinking Back Thursdays

Does anyone else remember this show?  I always loved the teenage girls, and though they were sooooooo cool back in the day.  I found it replayed once on TV about 5 years or so ago, and never again since then.  I think I'm going to make a station with all of the best shows from the 80s/90s.  You'd tune in, right?

You Can't Say That on Television.

Now, what kid did not have the dream to one day be slimed?

Only the best series of books EVAH!!!!  I had so many of these it's ridiculous.  I read every one, (I'm sure I missed any new ones if there are any) and would often read one a day.  I had the regular series, the Super Specials, the mysteries, the little sister series, movies, you name it.  I even wanted to set up my own baby-sitters club.  I have these all in a tote in our crawl space.  I'm so tempted to pull them out and start reading it again.  I think I might have a husband side-eyeing me for that one.

weekend recap

I meant to write up a blog post over the weekend, but we were busy.  Well, busy doing just about nothing. ;)  Friday night was bath night, so I figured why not get good and dirty before we got all cleaned up?  Time for a little painting fun, which the girls love!
Kendall of course went for the green again.  Her favorite!
Sydney soon learned it's way more fun to just paint herself.  Who needs paper?
Look ma!
I showed her how to make hand prints then, which she thought was pretty funny.
Ta Da!
Once her hands and arms were full of paint, she decided she needed a little hair job also.  Oh boy.
Saturday, I set up the seamless paper to take some pictures of crap I'm trying to get rid of on Craigslist.  Go figure, I had a pile of treasurers, and Eric puts one thing on.  Within 10 minutes I get a text for his stuff.  By the end of the next day, I have 4 people asking for it!  Do you know how many calls I got for mine?  Zip. Zilch. Zero.

I noticed a chunk of the paper was ripped, so we cut it off, and the girls had fun coloring their massive coloring book.  They especially thought it was cool to have their bodies traced on it.  That is, until Sydney colored red all over Kendall's body's face.  Kendall didn't find that too funny.
Monday we had Kendall's first dentist appointment.  They recommended to me to start bringing them at 3.  I waited until she was good at letting me brush really well in her mouth, and she was so excited to go to the dentist.  She'd been talking for months, which was about how long it took me to get in.  Go figure, the time we have an appointment is when she didn't sleep well the night before, was battling a cold and the appointment is smack dab during nap time.  She started out loving it.  She played with the puzzles and books while we were waiting, and kept telling me how fun it was at the dentist's.
Then it was time for us to go back.
She thought she was pretty cool sitting in the chair that would move up and down.
She loved the princess glasses she got to wear.
And that's where things ended.  She smiled to show her teeth, but that's as far as she'd go.  She wanted nothing to do with the little mirror in her mouth, and was just done.  In fact, she calmly took off the paper cover and handed it back and said, "Let's go, mom.  I'm all done now."  ::sigh::  The hygienist didn't want to push it, so she recommended we come back in 6 months.

So frustrating, but then it was time to go home and watch a little Strawberry Shortcake to end the weekend.

Hope you had a great weekend!  I'm not used to getting Monday's off of work, so my week might be thrown off a bit now.  Tough problem to have, right? ;)

Two little clicks for the day?  It's much easier than sitting with a 3 y/o at the dentist!

Toddle Along Tuesday: Daddy's Girls

Last week, Valentine's Day, marked 4 years ago since we found out our family would be expanding.  We were over the moon to find out that we were going to have a baby.  Would it be a girl or a boy?  I deep down was crossing my fingers for a little girl.  I could just picture doing all of the things I always dreamed of doing with my daughter.  I think Eric was thinking the same way about a little boy.

When we found out at our anatomy scan that it was a little girl, I was thrilled.  Eric got the biggest smile I've ever seen also.  Still, part of me was a little worried he would be disappointed.  He never gave me any reason to think that, but I wondered if he was as excited for a little girl as I was.  The minute Kendall was born, those worries of mine were gone.  When I saw him look into the face of his daughter, I knew he was head over heels in love.
From day 1, they had an incredible bond, and she had daddy wrapped around her little finger.
I thought of all the things that fathers and sons do together, and realized that it wouldn't be any different with a little girl.
He can still teach her how to drive.
Bring her to ball games.
Teach her how to swim.
And how to fish.
When we found out baby #2 was on the way, I had the same feelings.  Would he be praying for a boy?  Would he want one of each?  When we got the news, "It's a girl!!" the same huge smile crept onto his face.  He was thrilled and said he doesn't need a boy.  Girls are just as wonderful and he was so happy to now have two.

When Sydney was born, he fell right back into his favorite roll with a baby girl.  Cuddling.
These two little girls have been such a blessing for us and have brought the softer side of Eric out.

They've taught him some important life lessons as well.

The excitement of a well planned tea party.
The thrill in seeing a real live princess at a parade.
And just remembering the best things in life are the simplest things.

Even if he still feels the need to add his boyish touch where he can.

Would You Rather Blog Hop

First off, thank you all so much for entering the giveaway for the Target gift card!  The winner is.....

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I love this game.  I thought this could be a fun way to get to know our follow bloggers.  Grab the button, link up and join in.  Feel free to tag your friends.  The more that participate, the more fun it'll be. Answer the 10 questions below.

Would you rather...
1. Drive or ride in a car.
Ride in the car.  Then I can play on my phone or something.  Driving gets too boring.  {I'd like you to know that I first typed out Boring gets too Driving.  yup, I'm pretty smrt.}

2. Live on the beach or in the mountains.
On the beach.  No question.

3. Read a book or watch the movie.
Normally I'd say read the book, because I love reading.  I've been slacking at finding the time, so I may have to say watch the movie since it's shorter.

4. Have your house  cleaned for a year or all of your meals cooked.
Have my house cleaned, for sure.  I HATE doing that.  Although, as you can see here, maybe I should have someone cook for us, too.

5. Eat a stick of butter or snort a tablespoon of salt.
Butter kind of skeeves me out, so I think I'd have to say snort the salt.   I'm shivering just thinking about it.

6. Be rich & ugly or poor & good looking.
Rich and ugly.  I bet I could still find a man that would love me for my money. :)

7. Go without the internet or TV for a month.
They'd both be tough, but I'll say TV.  I could still watch it as long as I had internet.

8. Dump someone or be dumped.
Considering I married my high school sweetheart, I don't have a lot of experience in the boyfriend department or with dumping.  I'd say I would rather do the dumping though.  I'll be the Queen Bee.

9. Hear the same song on repeat or watch the same cartoon all day.
Hear the same song on repeat.  I pray that none of you would happen to come in contact with me by the end of that day.  I'd probably go crazy on someone.

10. Drink a cup of spoiled milk or pee your pants in public.
Pee my pants in public.  Milk makes me so nervous that it'll be spoiled.  I don't think I'd ever be able to use it again if it actually was.
