Wordless Wednesday

The kids are going to hate me for this someday.  :)  How cute are they, though??  They were doing their laps.

Tired mini update

So, I've been a little behind at the blogging. I was too busy enjoying the long, but still way too short, holiday weekend. I'm hoping to get some pictures uploaded and do a better recap post soon.

Thanksgiving was great and lots of yummy food was eaten. The girls didn't get a nap, so I was a little worried especially for Sydney. They both held up great!

My in laws picked me up at 11pm that night to go on my first true Black Friday shopping. And you know what? I love it. I thought I'd get all anxious and agitated with the people and line lines. Nah!

First up, Best Buy. Holy hell there were a lot of people! (sorry for the bad quality.  Cell pic)
However, it was worth it because I got my new computer.  *cue angels singing*  This Saturday we are changing our internet provider and should have faster speeds, which should work great with the faster, better computer.  I can already feel my blood pressure lowering thinking about editing pictures/updating the blog/playing around...you know, essential day to day items.

Another odd thing I noticed about Black Friday is that people dress up.  Um, WTF?  I noticed a few groups of people (mostly kids).  I made a note for next year.  I mean, I don't want to stick out like a newb or anything.
As I said before, we left around 11pm Thursday night.  I got home around 9:30 Friday morning....with two active girls and a husband that informs me he's going to go to work for the day.  Ahhhhhh!!!! Nap time could not come soon enough!  He came home shortly after one (If only he had listened to me that it didn't pay to go in!) and the girls and I went down for naps.  I got a couple of hours in when I was woke up, but during this time there were lights put on the house.  Although, still exhausted this made me happy. :)

Saturday was spent finishing my Christmas decorating (pics to come) and yesterday was a little lazy.  I've been trying to transfer our files to the new MacBook.  Yup, 10 hours.  It's a bit of an adjustment going from a PC to a Mac.  I think it'll take some time to get used to it, but I'm hoping I love it as much as everyone says I will.

So, that's our weekend wrap up.  How was yours?  Score any big deals shopping??

Wordless Wednesday | Sneak Peek

I mentioned last week that we were going to attempt our Christmas card pictures.  Here's a little sneak peak.  The pictures were turning into a bust, until Eric got home and started doing some sort of funky chicken dance behind me.  I'm not exactly sure what was going on, but I heard a lot of shuffling, and some kids laughing.  Most of the pictures, their eyes were wherever he was.  A picture with 2 kids looking and smiling....not easy.  This one will have to do though!

Day 23: I'm thankful for the short work week.  I love the Thanksgiving holiday!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend.  I wish everyone who is out Black Friday shopping lots of luck!!

Y3W | Operation Christmas Card

Ok, ok.  Now I know we're supposed to respect the turkey and all, but I don't know if I can wait.  And really, it's only a week early, so it's totally ok, right??

Tomorrow I am hoping and praying to get our Christmas card picture completed.  I should have started a little earlier, because I'd like to get them ordered soon.  I've learned in the last 1.5 years that taking pictures with 2 little girls is no small task.  My futile attempt last year still has me weary.

Sydney was all smiles last year and ready to go:
Ok, so far so good.  Next up is to add Kendall in the mix.  This should be easy enough, right?  Not so much.  I got them close to each other in one picture, but no smiles:
Kendall next thought Sydney needed the Rudolph in the pictures.  Again, Sydney was ready with smiles.
Kendall decided she needed to give Sydney a hug, Sydney pinched her nose, Kendall started screaming "Sydney pinched me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"  You know, normal picture taking events.
By this time, Kendall was d.o.n.e.  She didn't want to get near Sydney, and wanted to sit and pout.
We decided then to wait until the next day, and just try a family picture.  The camera malfunctioned and wouldn't turn on.  By the time it was working again, Kendall and Sydney both were over it.  By the time we convinced Kendall to stay in the picture we had to agree that she could keep her toy salt and pepper shakers.  And forget looking at the camera smiling.
It has to go better this year, right?!?  We shall see.  In my ideal world, in the next two days we would get an amazing picture of the girls, the lights on the house, all three trees up (what?!?  It's normal to have more than one tree, isn't it?), the house decorated, my Snow Village houses up, the house cleaned, laundry finished and put away, and the girls photobooks completed and ordered.  Oh yeah, and make my Christmas shopping gift list.  Is that doable?  Yeah, that's what I thought. :/

Join up with Jenni for more Y3W fun!

Day 18 of Thanks: I am thankful that my husband will (at least should be) home this weekend.  After being gone hunting from Thursday night through Sunday the last two weekends in a row, it'll be nice to have some help around the house.  Or at least to try to distract the kids while I work on my Christmas decorating.

Thinking Back Thursday Vol. 6

I'm having so much fun every week remembering different things from my youth.  From shows, toys, clothes, food, songs, etc.  I love them all. :)
remember this show?  I'm the baby!

Finding the Indian with the shooting star was so exciting.

I loved my My Little Ponies.  I had a stable and so many horses.  There were even
a couple that had wings and I could make them fly.

Day 16: I'm thankful we live in an environment that my children are able to access and enjoy an education.  Kendall is having so much fun learning new things and constantly amazes me with how much knowledge that little head already holds.

Day 17: I'm thankful I wore my puffy winter coat today.  It's effing cold out there.  Brrr.....

Versatile Blogger Award!!

I'm so excited! Censie, over at Building Our Story selected this blog for one of the Versatile Blogger Awards.  My very first blog award.  I feel so warm and gooey inside!!  The gas station cappuccino may be helping that feeling, too.  Either way, I'm happy! :)  Thanks, Censie!

So, here are the "rules" to accepting the award.
~ Tell 7 things about myself
~Pass the award on to 15 bloggers that I feel are deserving.
  1. My name is Tessa and I live in Minnesota.  That means starting now through April I spend my time being half frozen and miserable.  The rest of the year I am swatting away mosquitoes.  I should be on the State's tourism committee.  I'm sure that description is making many of you want to move here now.
  2. I work in government accounting.  This means I have honed the skill of fast number crunching.  I'm practicing up for the Ten Key Olympics.  I'm fast, yo.  ;)
  3. I married my HS sweetheart on 12/7/07.  The following Valentine's Day we found out Miss Kendall was on her way.  When she was 11 months old, we found out Miss Sydney would be joining our family.  We don't waste any time, I guess.
  4. I get a strange sense of excitement from the office supply aisle.  I could stand their and breath in all the goodness of gel pens, colored post its, flags, and don't get me started on colored highlighters.  Heaven.
  5. I have to color code any snacks, like skittles or fruit snacks.  I first arrange them into piles.  Then I have to start eating the larger piles until each color has the same number.  At that point, I rotate colors in the same pattern.  Yes, I know it'd be easier to just shove them in my mouth.  It just doesn't work as well that way, I'm telling you!
  6. I have an insane love of pasta.  I could and have eaten spaghetti for three meals a day.  I seriously could throw out every other food option and live off of that and be perfectly content for the rest of my life.
  7. I think I love #6 so much because I am a disaster in the kitchen.  Don't believe me?  Check out THIS and THIS.  I wish those were the only times that I've had meltdowns (literally) in the kitchen.  Believe me now?  ha ha   It's a good thing I look so damn good.  ;)
And now I get to pass the award on to 15 bloggers of my choice!
Be sure to check them out!

My Week in iPhone Pictures : Week 1

Amy over at A Good Life has been doing a week in iPhone posts for, like, a year already.  I always meant to start up, but then a year flew by.  After I  got my awesome new phone last weekend, I've been having a blast playing with the better camera and have found another new addiction - instagram.  Are you on it?  If so, you can follow me @Talesof2Girls.  Anywho - I've had a weeks worth of time in taking pictures, so I figured what better time than now to join in!
SATURDAY - After doing some shopping with Kendall and getting her 3 year pictures taken, we went back to my parents to pick up Sydney.  The girls enjoyed some Mr. Potato Head fun, and we took a trip down memory lane with Kendall in one of my old dresses.
SUNDAY - I got all domestic and made a roast in the crockpot.  After dinner, Kendall made us her own little meal in her kitchen when we heard a strange sound.  We went down to the kitchen where we found this adorable little kitty looking in our window at us.  We couldn't talk Eric into letting us keep her, but he did agree to giving her a little milk.  As he was mumbling what a bad idea this was to feed a stray cat, I saw him reach for a little bologna.  He said she probably needed a little meat with the milk.  He is a softy, after all. :)
MONDAY- These are a little hard to see. The girls enjoyed a little cuddle and cartoons in the morning before we had to leave for the day.  On the way to work, my car showed icy, which comes up when it falls below 32*.  Sigh, the winter is fast approaching.  After work, Sydney found the jackpot in the Tupperware drawer while I was making dinner.  Kendall was showing off how old she was, and Sydney hijacked my purse.  I laughed when I saw she had my work badge around her neck.
TUESDAY - In case the car temp the day before didn't prove winter was coming, we got our first bit of snow.  Granted, it isn't much, but I know more will be coming before we know it.  Two little sleeping beauties.
WEDNESDAY - A little game of peekaboo with Sydney, and Kendall brought home her family picture from school.  I almost died when I saw this.  This was the first picture that I could tell what she was drawing.  She said the tall one was mommy and the little one was Kendall.  I asked where daddy and Sydney were, but she said she ran out of room.
THURSDAY - Eric left for the weekend, but I tested out this Pinterest recipe.  I couldn't find any white cheddar cheese at our little, local grocery store, so yellow had to do.  I don't think the girls minded the variance.
FRIDAY - I got off of work due to Veteran's Day, so it was time for some mommy maintenance.  I finally got in for a much needed hair color.  I decided to go darker for the winter.  Eric wanted a picture to see what it looked like.  I'm dumb with self pictures, so forgive me. :)

I've been falling behind on my posting for the weekend on my 30 days of thanks, so I'll play catchup here.

Day 12: I'm thankful for all of the  military and veterans who work so hard and sacrifice so much so that we can enjoy our freedom.

Day 13: I'm thankful for the health of my family, especially my children.

Day 14: I'm thankful for the cappuccino machine upstairs at work.  When I don't have time to stop for a coffee in the morning, or forget to make one at home, it makes me warm and happy.  Literally warm. :)

Thanks for all of the votes! I really appreciate it. :)

Y3W | Kendall Sings Sunshine

Every night, our bedtime routine consists of reading two books, and then as Kendall asks for, a cuddle and some songs.  You are My Sunshine is her favorite to sing together.  Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the lyrics to a couple of lines in the second verse.  I started humming it, and after a few times of singing together, she picked up on it.

While laying on the couch last night, I decided to use the face time camera on my new phone to tape her.  She though it was hilarious to see herself singing, hence the goofy faces.

Here she is, in all her glory.

I love our bedtime time together.  I love hearing her sing.  I love her.

Join up with Jenni for more Y3W fun!

Day 11 of Thanks: I am thankful that I am able to now be home every night with my babies and spend this time together.  Although toddlers can be exhausting and make you want to pull out your hair at times, I know these are the best years of my life and I'm trying to soak up every second of them.  Kendall told me yesterday that she loved me more than fruit snacks.  That's big love, right there!

Thinking Back Thursday Vol. 5

This made that elusive t-shirt knot so much easier to perfect!
I loved these little popples.  I think I had this exact one.
Scratch N Sniff Stickers!  I LOVED these.
You had to be careful not to go too hardcore in your playing or the heads would pop off.  There was nothing worse than winning only to lose your head.  Oh yeah, if you play with me, the pink one is always mine.  Just warning you. :)

Day 10: You know that feeling where you wake up and think it's time to get up?  You then look at the clock and realize it's only 3am so you still get 3 more hours of sleep?  Best feeling ever.  Today I am thankful for my morning starting out right, like that. :)

I have a great "thankful" post for tomorrow, complete with video.  Is the suspense enough to make you want to stop back?  I hope so. :)

Wordless Wednesday | Flashbacks

I haven't downloaded the latest pics off of our camera, so I pa-roused (doesn't this look like a funny spelling?  Maybe it's not even the right word that I'm thinking of, lol) Facebook and was reminiscing on last year's Christmas.  I'm getting excited, so we'll go back to last year for today. :)
Day 9: Today I am thankful for my friends.  There is nothing better than having someone to call and vent to, cry with, laugh with, and even not have to talk because you know what the other is thinking.

2 little clicks?  Please and thank you.   Click To Vote For Us @ Top Baby Blogs Directory!
