Your Three Words

Happy Halloween!!  We're going to attempt a little trick or treating this weekend.  All month I've been practicing with Kendall.  She'll come with her cute little Hello Kitty halloween bucket and try to say trick or treat.  I'll put a little toy of hers in it, and then she'll say thank you and leave.   You know this'll never happen though.  We'll be all prepped and ready, get to the door and then crickets....nothing.

The poor thing, Kendall's head is too big for her hat.  Not quite sure how we plan to keep that on Sunday.  For more pics of their costumes click here

Tomorrow afternoon I get a nice hour massage.  My mom got me a gift certificate when I had Sydney.  I can't wait, I just hope this time goes better than last time

A letter to my Kendall...

Dear Kendall,
I started this blog for you and your sister.  I wanted to have something to be able to give to you two when you got older.  Something to capture the memories, stories, laughter and tears.  Now, as you turned two, I feel I need to tell you about your life to date and what you mean to us.

I always heard that when you become a mother, you learn what true love is.  I always found that funny, because I thought I already knew it.  I loved a lot of people in my life - my family, my friends, and most of all your father.  The minute you were placed in my arms, I finally understood what people were saying.  I never knew that love could consume you.  That love could literally make your heart feel so full that it hurts.  The first few weeks I would feel so happy to have you that I couldn't help but cry.  Daddy always thought something was wrong, but I just couldn't really explain how blessed and happy I was to have you. {Kendall, you will learn someday that boys handle their emotions differently, but that is a lesson for another time}.

You have been the most amazing child.  You were such a happy and easy baby.  Now, you are my happy and easy toddler.  While you've had your moments of "terrible twos", you by far are just a great girl.  You have learned and changed so much this past year.  I really think you are a genious.  I know all mother's think that they have the smartest and most beautiful children.  They're could they?  I do!! :)

In your second year of life you learned to walk (a little bit of a late bloomer on that my love), got your first tooth (again, a little bit of a late bloomer) and had 15 teeth follow that first tooth.  You are now saying so many words.  Your favorite word for most of the year was baby.  Then baby Sydney came along (baby CeCe as you like to call her).  Oh Kendall, how you LOVED your little sister.  It made my love for you grow even more to see how caring you are.  You always love to give her kisses, to play with her, and most of all try to comfort her if she cries.  You are always there to take care of her, and I hope you continue with that as the two of you grow.  You have a best friend built in for life.

You have so much excitement for life.  We have to always laugh at you because you flap your arms and look like you're about to fly away.  I think you just can't contain all your joy.  Don't stop - happiness is contagious and you will keep a lot of friends around you with your happy attitude.

Some other things you love:
  • Your nuk (sorry my love, we really need to be getting rid of this soon)
  • Your box-box as you call it
  • Nick Jr (especially Dora and Wonder Pets)
  • Clothes - you could get rid of all your toys and be happy forever with a basket of laundry.  If I just got it all folded, you seem to really like to dig in
  • Your shoes - my little fashionista has now started telling me what shoes you want to wear
  • Hats - we have to hide your winter hats because you insist on walking around in them all day, even if it makes you sweat
  • Books - you will sit in your little chair and read books for hours.
  • Your buddy Blake - you are such a good friend to him.  If he's sad you will run to give him hugs and give him your toy.  It makes me proud to see what a good friend you can be.  However, I have also seen you sock him when he tried to take something from you. ;)
  • Bubble baths
  • Your sleep - you take about 3 hour naps in the afternoon and will sleep from about 9-9:30pm to about 8-9am (unless we need to get up for daycare)
I love you so much, ladybug.  It makes me so sad to have you growing up on me.  I want to keep you little and innocent.  I never want you to leave my lap.  However, I love watching you grow and thrive.  I know the future will bring us so much joy and I can't wait to see what it has in store for you.

Your Three Words

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!  My baby girl cannot be two already!! :(

Kendall Lee will be two on Monday.  The past two years have FLOWN by.  Everyone tells you they grow fast, but seriously?!?  How'd this happen?  This has been, by far, the best two years of my life.  I never thought a two year old could be my best friend.

She is so flippin funny!  I don't think a night has gone by in the last few weeks that Eric and I weren't almost crying from laughing at her.  It's amazing {and scary} seeing how much her brain is absorbing.  Mommy really needs to start watching her mouth.  I don't think Brianna's going to find it too funny if Kendall starts bringing swear words with her to daycare.

We are having her birthday party this Sunday at the hotel for some pool fun.  I don't think she really knows what's going on, but we talk about her party every night.  We've finally got down that she'll say, "Doo" {two} when we ask her how old she is.  It's usually followed up by "Free" {three}  Daddy's been working on the counting so I don't think she realizes her age will stay at two for a little bit.  Just not long enough for mom...

I'll try to post some pics of her birthday soon, but I'll part with Miss K's new favorite phrase -

Peas Owe Doo

(peace out dude!)

Your Three Words

Last night my mom and I had appointments to go and get facials.  Ahhhh....heaven.  I could take an hour of somebody rubbing my head and face every day.   We had planned to make a night of it and go do dinner afterwards.

Eric was working late so my dad was on baby-sitting duty with the girls.  I told him to call if he needed anything.  Right towards the end of the facial I heard my mom's phone go off....2 seconds later my phone was ringing.   That could only mean one thing.

My normal sweet and smiley little girl was not having it!  I don't know if stranger anxiety is kicking in already {Kendall was about 6 months} or what her deal was.  She started crying as soon as we left and did not stop.  My dad felt so bad for her.  Wouldn't you know, once we got there she had fallen asleep and was then good as gold.  I think she was a little overtired, which can really affect her.  I guess we just need to go visit Grandma and Poppy T a little more often.

We have Kendall's 2 year pictures tomorrow and then an elk roast at Eric's parents tomorrow night.  They are having a party with the elk Eric shot in Colorado last fall.  It should be fun, but I definitely don't plan on eating any of that!!

I think Sunday might be naked Sunday for Kendall to do some full immersion potty training.   I can see the puddles on my floor already...

a little sneak peak

A little sneak peak of the girls' Halloween costumes.
Have you seen a happier Snow White?

I learned it's impossible to get them both smiling at the same time.

This is how most of the photo shoot went...

One Year Ago...

It was a very light 2nd line, but it was a line!  A year ago today, we got the surprise of our lives.  Kendall was going to be a big sister!  I think Eric and I were both in shock and didn't know what to think.  However, within a week, we were so excited to be expanding our family.

Sydney has been such a joy so far.  It's funny how God intervenes in our lives and gives us what we didn't know we needed.  I cannot imagine not having both of my girls and not having them close in age.  This worked out better than we could've planned and I love watching Kendall and Sydney playing and laughing together.  It's so fun to daydream about what the future will hold for them and the relationship that they'll have.

Life is good! :)

Your Three Words

Stupid work is getting in the way of my blogging!  I missed Y3W last week, and am a day behind this week.  Tsk tsk.

As seen above, my little Sydney is 4 months old!!  We were in for her 4 month checkup on Thursday and I felt so horrible listening to her cry after her vaccines.  After a little Tylenol when we got home, so was back to her happy self.  She's now 12 lb 14.5oz  (39th %) and 24" (50th %) and her head is 16".  Such a little peanut!  I can't believe how big my girls start out and turn into little runts. ;)

This has been such a fun month watching Sydney grow.  She is smiling and laughing up a storm.  She loves being in the middle of all the action and could sit and watch people for quite awhile (especially her big sister).

Some other 4 month stats - still in size 1-2 diapers but about ready to move up to size 2.  Mostly 3-6 month clothes but still fits in some 0-3.  We just moved up to size 2 nipples for her bottles and she seems to like that better.  She does not want to work for her milk!  Nights have been going to sleep between 8-9 and usually gets up around 7 (I'm so spoiled!)

OMG, I almost forgot the biggest milestone this month!  We finally have a roller!  Eric says it doesn't count because she is just tipping over (belly to back) but I say it totally counts.  What do dads know anyway??

Kendall's Party Plans

Party planning is underway!  My baby girl is going to be 2 soon!  We have decided on a pool party.  (Daddy may have to be the pool partner.  Mama doesn't want to get into a swimsuit anytime soon!)  I've decided to go with a ladybug theme this year.  I got the bright idea that I'd make the invitations myself insead of ordering them.  About half way through I remembered I like ordering and receiving much better then cutting and glueing.  I think the finished product turned out ok though.

I was shopping online (surprise surprise!) and found this shirt.  How cute, right??
I also have the paper, and need to work on her birthday banner, which I hope to post pictures when it's done.  Hopefully I don't wait until the last minute, but that tends to happen a lot around here.  Oh well, it gets done! :)

A Perfect Weekend

This was one of those weekends that you just sit back and realize how good life is.  We didn't have any plans, which is a nice change of pace.  Eric was out hunting Saturday morning, so the girls and I met my parents, my BFF Melissa and her little boy at the Oktoberfest celebration.  It was a perfect fall day, so it was nice for a reason to be outside.

There was a bounce house that Kendall LOVED!  I didn't know how she'd do with the other kids, but she caught on quickly.  The air was filled with her giggles and Weeeeee's!
Getting her balance before the big bounces

Making a run for it!
A little video before my memory card was full.

After the bounce house we were off to see the animals at the petting zoo.  During all of this excitement, little Miss Sydney was all bundled in a blanket sleeping with Grandma.  Grandma's always seem to have the magic touch.  By the time we got home, Kendall was out cold within 5 minutes.  I sat and rocked with Sydney and smiled, thinking what a great life we have.

Today I was able to get a workout in.    Since starting back at work, I've pretty much quit my P90X schedule.  We are doing a biggest loser competition at work, so I really need to get back into it.  Between finding time to take care of the kids, the house, my job...taking care of me seems to fall to the way side.  I've decided I really need to try to make it a priority.  I still have two pesky pounds to go to get to pre-baby weight.   However, I'd love to go 10 more after that.

Kendall and I got out for an hour walk after lunch.  Eric and Sydney stayed back to play indoors, so it was fun spending some one on one time with my oldest baby.  As we were walking out the door she said, "Peace Out Dada"  That kid cracks me up!  I should have some abs of steel for all of the laughing I do at her.   Yes, mostly at her, not with her. :)
